A major highlight was Tuesday, July 23, when I rode with Davis Phinney, Dr. Jay Alberts, a neurologist and researcher from the Cleveland Clinic and the entire PEDALING FOR PARKINSON'S team. In the 2003 RAGBRAI, Dr. Alberts was riding a tandem bicycle with a Parkinson’s patient on the back, when he observed his patient’s symptoms were being improved. That observation was the catalyst for a groundbreaking study funded by the Davis Phinney Foundation which proved cycling can…

  • Improve overall motor function

  • Reduce tremor

  • Reduce bradykinesia

  • Reduce rigidity

  • Improve mood

  • Improve cognitive function

  • Click for more info on the study

Now Dr. Alberts, funded again by a Davis Phinney grant, is doing more research to determine if “Pedaling for Parkinson’s” (a low-cost indoor cycling program hosted by YMCAs) can slow Parkinson’s progression. This is why I am so eager to use my money (and ask for some of yours) to help the Davis Phinney Foundation. We need to support this research.

Please DONATE NOW! $10, $25, $100, or any amount. Just make up your mind to give something. Too many people read this and do nothing. Be different, take a little time and use a little of your money to help a good cause. Your contributions are tax-deductible, too.

Go online to my Davis Phinney Fundraising page and DONATE HERE.
